This is a time when technology is being used more than ever. Technology is used for learning and connecting with others. When using technology, it is important to be safe and respectful. However, during these times some people may use technology to bully others. This is called cyberbullying.
Cyberbullyingis using digital technology to hurt or harm someone on purpose.
A cyberbully uses a phone, internet, virtual classrooms to send or post texts or images intended to hurt or embarrass another person.
What should you do if you are being bullied online? 1. Tell your mom or dad, or an adult you trust even if you are not sure it's cyberbullying. 2. Reach out to your teacher or another adult who is in charge. They are there to help you. 3. Talk to an older sibling who you trust. 4. Take a picture or screenshot of the bullying and show an adult. 5. Report the bullying. If you do no know how to ask an adult.
What should you do if you see cyberbullying happen? 1. Tell your mom or dad or a trusted adult. 2. Report cyberbullying on the app or website. 3. If your classmates are being bullied, let the teacher know.
